Gabon - Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (Gabon - BIETC/BIC/CTN)

Gabon – Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (Gabon - BIETC/BIC/CRN)
According to Gabonese regulations, effective from September 1, 2007, all shipments to Gabon must apply for a Cargo Tracking Note (BIC/CRN). Failure to obtain this cargo tracking note will be considered a violation of Gabonese regulations and will result in severe penalties at the destination port.
From January 1, 2010, the Republic of Gabon implemented a new BIC, renamed BIETC.
BIETC is the acronym for the French term BORDEREAU D’IDENTIFICATION ELECTRONIQUE DE TRACABILITE DES CARGAISONS.
BIC is the acronym for the French term BORDERAU D’IDENTIFICATION DES CARGAISONS.
CRN is the acronym for the English term CARGOS TRACKING ELECTRONIC SYSTEM NOTE.
The Chinese translation is Electronic Cargo Tracking Note or Electronic Cargo Tracking Number. BIETC, BIC, and CRN all refer to the same document.
Effective May 20, 2017, as required by Gabonese Customs, shipping lines require that a shipping instruction containing a valid BIETC number must be submitted before loading. Without a BIETC number, we will not allow the cargo to be loaded on board. This number must be activated within 5 days after the vessel's departure. Please promptly provide the activated BIETC document to the local customer service department for verification. Only after verification is confirmed valid can the original Bill of Lading be released. If you fail to provide a valid BIETC document within 5 days after the vessel's departure, all resulting destination port customs fines, and even the cost of returning the cargo on the original vessel, will be borne by you. For any questions, please contact us for consultation.
*Notice from March 2017: Gabon prohibits the import of vehicles older than three years. Please take note, otherwise customs clearance will not be possible.
Note
**The ECTN certificate must be processed before the shipping line issues the original ocean Bill of Lading.
**The validated original ECTN certificate (PDF format) will be emailed to the applicant. The applicant should forward this original certificate to the consignee at the destination port and the shipping line, etc.
